Three autograph letters signed : Ayot St. Lawrence [Welwyn, Hertfordshire, England] and Parknasilla-on-Sea [Sneem, Kerry, Ireland], to [Louis] Calvert, 1912-1917.

In the first of these letters, Shaw derides Calvert's abilities: "You are a wretched actor -- a perfect disgrace to me [...] What are you thinking of half the time? In the second, he discusses possible roles for him but warns, "If I make a contract with you, the first shark you meet will simply swallow you, play, contract, and all [...] Your noble nature was not built for business." In the third, he declines to write a preface for Calvert's book (Problems of the Actor, 1919), as the publisher has requested, because he is resentful that "It is all a publisher's game to catch my circulation."
